Dr Susan Crawford is an autism spectrum disorder Consultant. She is also the mother of a young man with ASD, epilepsy and catatonia. Susan completed her PhD in the area of autism spectrum disorder and motor impairment having being awarded a scholarship from the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology. A former lecturer and researcher in University College Cork, Dr Crawford set up her own Consultancy to address teaching, learning, programme planning and evaluation for people with ASD across the lifespan. Dr Crawford is a recipient of The President’s Award for her work in addressing meaningful University-School-Community Collaboration. She is also a Fulbright Scholar for her work in the use of digital technology in movement programmes for individuals on the spectrum. More recently Dr Crawford completed a 2,500km run along the Wild Atlantic Way with her son Tomas addressing the “GetAutismActive, GetAutismAware” agenda. Susan is a qualified nurse, midwife, Sport and Exercise Scientist and spent her earlier working life in these combined areas.
